IT was truly a year of growth at Second Daughter. We introduced challah, expanded our brownie lineup to six flavors including Cosmic, Reese’s, Oreo Fudge, Crossover, and Raspberry, and watched our farmers market days grow beyond anything we could have imagined. Thanks to your support, we sold more brownies, cookies, and cakes than ever before.

 

We pushed ourselves creatively and operationally. We made donuts, crullers, and all different types of viennoiserie, increased our savory specials, and experimented with fun and sometimes viral ideas like jelly donut focaccia, gobblers, turkey pot pies, and cereal-covered cakes. Not everything worked, and we made mistakes along the way, but each one made us stronger, more focused, and more confident in who we are and what we do.

This was also the year we strengthened our relationships with our suppliers, growers, and community. We built deeper partnerships with the people who support our work and formed new relationships that quickly turned into long-lasting friendships.

 

We watched our breakfast sandwich quite literally blow up. The power of social media paired with really good food still amazes us. That same breakfast sandwich even made it onto FOX29 News, which was a true pinch-us moment.

Alongside our famous brownies and babka, sourdough focaccia and breakfast sandwiches became standout favorites. Most importantly, we grew our team to more than seven incredible people and learned how to grow together.

 

Looking ahead, we’re dreaming and talking about what’s next. Expanding Breakfast Sandwich Day, launching a Friday Challah Club, and even hosting a Shabbat dinner right here at the bakery are all ideas on the table. It feels like we’re just at the tip of the iceberg.

Through all of it, we’ve learned that growth matters most when it feels exciting, intentional, and joyful.

Second Daughter is currently on holiday as we take time to rest and recharge after a busy season.

Made to order, just for you. Our breakfast sandwich features soft-scrambled PA pasture-raised eggs, melted cheese, and crispy bacon, served on your choice of house-made rosemary focaccia or a maple-glazed donut. Also available as egg & cheese only.

         Offering locally sourced and seasonal pastries, including brownies, quiche, babka, galettes, sourdough focaccia, and more. We’re open Friday–Sunday, 9 AM–4 PM (or until sold out) at BOK, Fourth Floor, Space 403. No pre-order necessary—walk-ins welcome!
